Xenocrates was an ancient Greek philosopher who lived from 396 to 314 B.C. He was a prominent member of the Platonist school of philosophy and served as the head of the Academy in Athens, succeeding Speusippus, who was himself the successor of Plato. Xenocrates is considered one of the most important thinkers of the middle Platonic period.
