They have a distinct language called Armenian, which belongs to the Indo-European language family.
Historically, Armenians have experienced both periods of sovereignty and foreign dominion. Notably, Armenians witnessed the establishment of the Armenian Kingdom, which reached its zenith during the first millennium BCE. However, due to its strategic location, Armenia often faced invasions and conflicts, falling under the rule of different empires, including the Persians, Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans.
Sadly, Armenians have also endured numerous hardships, including the Armenian Genocide in the early 20th century, where an estimated 1.5 million Armenians lost their lives under the Ottoman Empire. Today, Armenians can be found around the globe, with significant communities in Armenia itself, as well as in countries like Russia, the United States, France, Iran, and Lebanon. They have preserved their cultural heritage through various traditions, including cuisine, folk dances, religious practices (predominantly adhering to Armenian Apostolic Christianity), and traditional craftsmanship.
