In the context of the heart, a ventricle is one of the two lower chambers that pump blood throughout the body. Located beneath the two upper chambers called atria, the left and right ventricles are separated by the septum. The largest ventricles, known as the lateral ventricles, are located deep within the cerebral hemispheres, while the third and fourth ventricles are situated within the brainstem and the central canal of the spinal cord, respectively.
